Like a ship emerging from a storm, an island appears through a thinning veil of coastal fog. Rising out of the Olympic Coast Marine Sanctuary, the island is itself part of the Washington Islands Wilderness Area, a refuge for thousands of sea birds. This section of coast is remote from road access and offers hikers tranquil days of exploration.
